Willie Repoley Speech

& Presence

Helping you say what needs to be said

Hi, Immediate Theatre Project co-founder Willie Repoley here. In addition to my work as an actor and producer of theater, I am a certified Patsy Rodenburg Associate. This means that I have completed training with Master Voice Teacher Patsy Rodenburg, OBE, and am accepting private clients, offering group workshops, and in other ways advancing Patsy’s approach to speaking in the world.

I first approached this work as an actor, but I have discovered that the applications go far beyond the walls of the theater. This is for teachers, politicians, non-profit leaders, lawyers, entrepreneurs — anyone, in short, who speaks in front of others and wants to do so with more compassion and clarity.

Email willierepoley @ gmail.com to get details about when I’ll be offering workshops throughout the year.

“It is not contradictory to have ease and purpose at the same time. In fact it is essential, in both movement and speech. It gives us strength without tension, and relaxation without laziness.”

“Maybe you feel ignored at staff meetings. Maybe you have to tell people difficult things and want to do so with more authenticity and care. Maybe you lead a group of people and wish they felt more like a team. Or maybe you just find that your throat is sore at the end of every day. Let’s talk; this work can help.

For me, Patsy’s approach to speaking and interacting in the world makes sense in a way that no other ‘method’ ever has; it allows me to see the value in all the different ways I’ve been taught, while building a stronger foundation to support all of them.

Working in this way puts the human being first, asking us to identify and release whatever tensions are restricting our ability to fully meet the words. It’s about freeing the breath and the body, because once we can get a little distance between us and our habits, we can discover what the text itself requires — rather than limiting our choices to what we already know. It really comes down to being present in the world and with each other.”
